Hubby purchased a new AB machine to change our kegs into 6 packs. I would have preferred a gym member ship but I could not convince him. We started with the machine yesterday and it was very difficult. He soon realized that the handles were on backwards. I believe that is why instructions are placed in with anything you buy.
It came with a wonderful DVD and recipes. I didn't know that one had to follow a diet with this apparatus in order to downgrade the keg to a 6 pack.
We started off with the beginner mode and watched in awe at the intermediate and expert mode. We never even made it to the dancercise, Pilate and cardio fitness section. It looks so easy on the video. Every muscle in my body began to ache and throb. I had a restless night in bed last night with more aches and pains. I got up this morning to check if I was on the way to a 6 pack but the keg was still present. I guess it will take more than a day to get to 6 pack size.
Today I am resting because I hurt all over like really - really - bad - awful. The new AB machine sits awkwardly in front of the television just waiting for some fool to take a ride. Tomorrow is another day.
Life is like riding a bicycle. When you fall off - cry with humiliation then get back on. Ride with the winds of passion as your tattered sails.

Sleep Deprivation
Sleeping or lack thereof is infringing upon my life and my well being. I used to be able to go to sleep at the drop of a hat and get up at the crack of dawn. I didn't even need to hear that rooster crow. What gives? Why is my internal sleeping mode gone wack?
Is it an age thing? Seniors complain mucho about their sleeping habits? I'm not near the senior level but perhaps I am an early learner? A mattress thing? Recently I purchased a new memory foam mattress pad. Couldn't afford the new bed so I settled for the pad. It's comfy.
Still going to bed at my usual time. I am getting more exercise. The dog has stopped asking to go out four times a night so I do not have that to deal with. But still I wake up almost every hour. For what?
Am I stressed? Over worked? Underpaid? YES - yes - and yes - but always have been. What's going on?
I found this great site but I'm too tired to read it, maybe tomorrow.

Green Eggs & Ham

So for the past month I have been doing my power walk. The verdict is still out on the results. This morning I ask hubby if he would like to go with me. He gives me this dazed - what did you say look. So I repeat the question.
"When did you start this?", he asks with the still dazed look. I've been doing this for quite some time. I guess the verdict is in.
He would rather walk to The Cafe and have a hearty - greasy breakfast of Green Eggs and Ham. Somehow that defeats the purpose of walking. The key to the routine is to walk off those pounds not add any more on.
So, reluctantly he agrees to my wishes. He puts on his wool (yes WOOL) sweater. We live in Florida and it's April and it's quite warm. Off we go into the wilds of the neighborhood. Ducks walk the streets, squirrels run rampant and early morning drivers terrorize us with there speed.
Hubby complains about the heat. Stop your whining I think to myself - you're the one that wanted to wear the dumb sweater. He takes it off and hands it to me to hold. Yeah right!!!
We finish the walk and he trudges into the house to make a three course breakfast. I gulp down my energy drink and head out for my second lap.

Doing the Circuit
Sometimes it feels like an insurmountable chore to walk the dog. He could do the 5k but I am only up to the 1k. He needs his exercise which is also his life. He likes to sniff every lamppost and blade of grass and snarl at pedestrians. His focus is off the board.
I understand that he needs more walking time and I need to work on my goal of 'get more exercise'. So I have made a compromise. I walk him on my bike. Actually it's more like a trot for him.
I am completing my goal and he is having his fun time. We've had a couple of mishaps on this new journey. A squirrel darts in front of us and off he goes with me in tow. It's difficult keeping the bike in an upright position when my leader is doing a 45 degree turn at top speed.
We've encountered a couple of unleashed pets on our journey. One little mongrel caused scrapes and cuts to my bod and the owner said nothing. That day I pedaled home bleeding profusely from the elbow and left a trail for CSI.
Bumps are somewhat of a distraction. One bump caused me to connect with a wooden fence. All in all it's been a very interesting activity. Ronster gets his freedom and I am getting my exercise and the environment is getting a little fertilizer. During the ride when he has to go - he lets her rip and little piles of doo line the street. I don't stop. My bad.
