Happy Happy Happy

In today’s pernicious economy we need to apply the 3 ‘P’s to all our endeavors. Persistence, persuasion and pessimism. Persistence means to keep paddling that boat even though it has a leak. Persuasion can be used to have others help you plug that leak. Pessimism is a reminder that we need to be positive and not let that boat sink. The world is polychromatic and we choose the vast array of colors and have them work effectively within a team. Those with a predisposition to creativity have a high probability to succeed.

My creativity has been stymied of late due to the foot surgery. Today, hopefully the sutures will be removed - be more positive- yes, today the sutures WILL be removed and I can walk once again. I can feel the creativity bubbling up inside. Wait that could be the asthma flaring up again. I need to paddle my boat faster to stay afloat not that I hear banjo music playing.

My happiness level is at an all time high. Well, maybe halfway to high. I still need to baby the foot but I can go in the pool again. My three happy thoughts are squirming inside my brain.

1. I am happy I see my podiatrist today - and he is such a cutie....
2. I am happy hubby built a great arch for our jasmine to grow on - he is such a cutie....
3. I am happy that I am happy....

Happiness is contagious - pass it on.

To spend or not to spend, that is the question?

I heard this confusing news blurb this morning on the television. Why I listen to this doom and gloom is beyond my common sense. Then, my common sense is not so common if I have any at all. "Whatever", is what the t-shirt states.
Some newsworthy person said, "We need to spend money to gain more jobs." So is spending a viable profession? If it is I want that job. SPEND, SPEND, SPEND. I would even work overtime for free. My first interview question would be, "How much money can I spend a day?" And then my thoughts would be where is this money coming from. Common sense goes under the rug.
Would someone or the government please explain to me how spending more money will create jobs? Is standing on the corner with the cardboard sign - "Homeless" a real job or just an illusion? How can this person spend more money? If you have no money to spend how can you spend more? I am so confused.
And how is all this spending more money creating new jobs? And where are these jobs being created? I am math challenged so my mind does not accept this strange concept. One station tells us to tighten our belts and clip coupons another says save money and invest and today I hear we need to spend.
Oh, the light bulb just went on (energy efficient light bulb) and I see the light. Wait that could be the sun rising in the West. Funny, I thought it rose in the East. Oh, it's the neighbor's headlights as he drives off to work. Pull t-shirt over my head - "Whatever". Back to the light bulb and my brain fart. The jobs that will be created for all that spending will be Bill Collectors and Bounty Hunters and more reality T.V.

Utilities unpaid

I thought we had winter guidelines in place to help those in need especially our seniors. I guess we did not. We should be ashamed.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090126/ap_on_re_us/frozen_indoors

In our small neighborhood we look after the seniors. We check on them, take them treats and just sit down and chat with them occasionally. It's like it takes a community to care for the elderly.

How sad this man had to die and such a painful death. I wonder how many more will have to die due to the economy slump? They have adopt a road, adopt a pet, foster a child; why not adopt a senior?
Do your part and enhance someones life. Give without expecting anything in return. Make your heart healthy.

Single mom with 4 kids

In Florida and around our great country there is desperation and dysfunction. The economy has tanked and left many of us in gloom, doom and despair. But even before that episode colored our lives Florida was overflowing with homeless and the downtrodden. Men stand on street corners with their cardboard signs and unshaven faces. Begging - soliciting for whatever including a stiff drink. Some even write on their signs - 'I need a drink, why lie'.
I have driven by and looked away pocketing the image in the deep recesses of my life. Thinking bad thoughts of them and focusing on how good my life is. I mean - get a job - stop drinking and doing drugs - my thoughts and sometimes my words slip out. Bums - lowlife - scums. Stop tainting my corner with your issues and problems that most likely you caused yourself. Go away. My selfish thoughts.
Yesterday as I was traveling down a very busy Florida highway I spotted a sign holder. As I drew closer I realized the sign holder was female. And her sign was printed in perfect handwriting. 'Single mom with four kids', was all I could read as I passed her by. The arrow pierced my soul and I thought something must be done and I drove away. The image is burned inside my heart like a tattoo proudly displayed on a muscular forearm.
Bum, lowlife and scum have faded from my jagged perception. We need help, we the people of this great country need a bailout. Somewhere her four little children suffer along with so many others. The lighbulb has gone off and I now know what one of my New Year's resolution will be.

Holiday Cheer

The news is still filled with doom and gloom over the economy and the state of the country. Everywhere one looks there is depression and darkness. The holidays are fast approaching and so are the festivities. I read the paper overflowing with bad news. I turn on the television with more bad news about the economy, retailers, unemployment, sluggish sales and home foreclosures. I listen to the radio and hear about seniors not being able to afford their medicine. I'm feeling that pinch right now as my health insurance refused to pay for a new medication prescribed by my doctor. I told my doctor give me something else or I go without.

The holiday parties and festivities are starting. Get dressed up, pay $50.00 per person to attend and bring a $10.00 gift. A silly gift that will most likely be regifted or packed in the closet. Eat and drink too much at the party. So, I have decided to forgo all the holiday parties, buying useless gifts, spending too much money and ending up with high blood pressure and clothes that no longer fit correctly.

I heard positive news the other day on the television and the light bulb went off. Take that money that you normally spend on parties and frivolous stuff and give to a charity. A food bank, toys for tots, a women's shelter, a soup kitchen, the list goes on and on. The rainbow is getting brighter for me and someone else. The season is giving. Spread a little cheer and joy and feel so good about it. Do you really want to attend that party?
Add a little color into someones life.

Where have all the flowers gone?

WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE
words and music by Pete Seeger
performed by Pete Seeger and Tao Rodriguez-Seeger

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Girls have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I went outside to scoop up tiny little baby tadpoles to feed my turtles - and what a surprise! They have gone. Gone to graveyards everyone? They were there yesterday. What happened? There must have been thousands of them. GONE. Not one left.
What will I tell they hungry turtles? Their food supply has disappeared like our economy. The tadpole supply perhaps affected the DOW? Is that why it plummeted once again? Lack of tadpoles.
