Speedy Gonzalas

I've heard the saying that 'some one was dealt a bad hand.' Well, I have been dealt a bad left foot. First the sole problem that has been nagging at me for months is finally healing and now another new curse on the top of my foot. When will the madness end?

Today was a day off but seemed more like 'speed dating'. Not that I have ever done 'speed dating' but others have told me about the drama. So today my day off kinda sorta became speed doctoring day. Four doctors in 8 hours - that must be a record. I wonder if the Guinness Book of Records has that category?

Snipped and scraped at the first doctor, blasted in the mouth by the dentist, poked and prodded by my primary care doctor and more cutting at the podiatrist. Woe is me. And a few bucks shorted - actually a whole lotta bucks shorter.

Tomorrow will be a better day no more speed doctoring and paying out the big bucks. I can't the well is done gone dry. Time for a fantabulous moon dance.

Earl of Sammich

The fear and uncertainty is beginning to gnaw at my innards chomping away at my strength and sensibility. Not that I have a lot of sense but the little that I possess is deteriorating at a rapid rate. Crazy thoughts are swirling around in my head and robbing me of my sleep. The unknown factor looms like a nightmare in the recesses of my jumbled mind.

My positive thinking has run off with Earl up the coast - onward to Canada - without a passport or a plan. Always have a plan - then a plan B. The eye of the storm tumbles aggressively - smashing my good thoughts - crumbling them into the sand strung along the east coast.

I'm beginning to wonder if my doctor is truly competent? Did he leave one of his instruments inside my foot on the last surgery? Is that the cause of the intense pain? Do I have some rampant bacteria inside my foot devouring all my tendons? The scary questions and thoughts are muddling my pea brain.

I can't wait till September 15 and I cannot wait till September 15. STOP those bad thoughts and images! The thought of the day is - Serenity Now! Whatever that means.

Mucus Management

I've just hit day 8 of my couch/congestion/sore throat/bronchial mucus/cold and I feel like a zombie gone mad. I've tried just about every over-the-counter cure all I can find. I have tried my own concoctions and that of neighbors. I haven't slept all night in days. My nose is plugged and the smell of morning coffee still eludes me. My eyes are puffy and red but they match the end of my red raw nose. And I'm even using Puffs tissues. My mucus is disgusting and clumpy. My cough grates on my nerves like fingers running down a chalkboard. Funny thing is whiteboards have replaced the chalkboards.
I am no better off now after taking all of this stuff. It's been a week of hell. Isn't that the timeline - a week? Trying desperately to ward off a doctors visit with my own brand of medicine. Gullibility. Perhaps I should have taken the plunge and seen my doctor.
My pocketbook is a lot slimmer. Those over-the -counter meds do little to eradicate those nasty cold germs. It would have been cheaper to see my doctor.
Thinking about drug companies I'm sure they are not in a recession. Do-it-yourself medications are pricey and ineffective. Check out the pharmaceutical area in any store and it goes on for miles and miles. Cures for colds, backaches and so many other maladies. Big bucks are in the pockets of the manufacture but I'm still sick. Why do I buy all this STUFF? Why don't I get better at the 7 day mark?
It's good to know that I and so many others keep the drug companies in the profit zone.
