Disappointments

There are many disappointments in life - just suck it up - go on - keep on truckin. I felt mine last night. I was so excited - charged - revvvved up and full of enthusiasm - then the axe fell. It was a slow fall so it took me awhile before the realization hit me. Actually it was when I became bombarded with mosquito's and they were eating me alive. So out of the pool I got. Uable to accomplish my goal.

7:22 in the south-south-west sky was the flight pattern. South-south?

What? Isn't south - south? Whatever. Why not just south-west? Perhaps I wasn't south enough. My strategy was to float in the pool gaze up at the heavens - south - south - west and watch for the space station to pass over me. It was going to be an awesome sight. But then those dang mosquito's started sucking blood - probably getting ready for Halloween. Floating in the pool became difficult.

I flipped off the raft and only kept my head above the water. Those little buggers were a buzzin around my head flying in my ears like they were at a drive thru window at a fast food restaurant. It really knocked my concentration for a sky dive.

Then, I saw the light. The light belonged to a plane. Then more lights - more planes. It was like Grand Central Station up in the south-south-west airways. What in hill are all those planes doing up there when the space station should be traveling by.

Then way -way far up in the clouds I saw a tiny little beam of light and my imagination swelled and I knew it just must be the space station drifting along. That's my thought and I'm holding on to it. Then the little light was gone drifting behind the pink of a very large cloud. And those dang mosquito's went to town on my ear lobes.

So I give in to the critters of the night and the stream of planes flashing high in the night sky and climb out of the pool. Disappointment washes over me but does little to ease the red bumps that are covering my wet body. Maybe in another 20 years I will get the chance to see the space station as it cruise by on its way to somewhere where mosquito's don't roam.

Dedant Dedant

I have this ant problem surrounding my pool. It's those nasty little red ones that BITE. Then, the bite swells up like a giant zit and itches beyond belief with no relief. I detest the little buggers. I do not use any pesticides so getting rid of these pesky creatures is difficult. Usually I splash the pool water over them to drown them. I know it sounds cruel but a person has to do what a person has to do to survive.

Wack and crazy is what we are so off to Walmart - that was yesterday when we were exposed to the awful CRACK. That is an episode I want to forget.
So hubby and I purchase two super soakers - on clearance - of course. I picked purple he picked orange.

Yesterday we spent a good part of the day in super soaker combat with those dang little red ants. Sounds a bit bizarre but then desperate people perform desperate acts. And running around in a swimming pool shooting super soakers at tiny smidgens of ants looks demented and white coat material. But that's how we spent our Saturday. What fun we had. How creepy is that?

I'm hoping that this tactic cures our ant invasion if not we sure are having demented fun. I hope some environmental-insect- human -interest group doesn't hear about this and come after us. Well if they do they will get a squirt in the face with my super soaker.

In the name of Progress

We painted the coping of our pool a cool blue, actually hubby painted it he's good at that sort of thing - but I did suggest the color. It's a baby blue-sky blue- robins egg blue - very tropical and goes with our decor. Our decor being freebies from friends and tables bought on clearance but who is keeping track. In my opinion it's eclectic-tropical-country.
So the coping looks wonderful but is in sad contrast to the decking. So the decking got painted by hubby and once again I picked out the color. I'm good at that sort of thing.
Then real quick like it became dirty and disgusting looking. That sky blue now looked like a hurricane sky. So we repainted it again, actually hubby painted and I supervised, I'm good at that. And at my suggestion we put a clear sealer over all the painted surfaces, Hubby did a wonderful job. He's good at that sort of stuff. The area was all bright and shiny and slippery.
I let everyone know to be careful because the decking and the coping was very-very slippery and I didn't want anyone falling and getting hurt. So the first casualty was - guess who? Me. I went slip-sliding away right over the edge into the pool. It was kind of okay because I did have on my bathing suit and my intent was to take a dip just not so fast and hard. I hit my knee on the edge of the pool and it hurt like hull.
Still is aching today but I will survive. I just get so annoyed with myself when I become the victim. Hopefully all have learned a lesson at my expense. And the pool does look lovely.

Boca Vista final phase COMPLETE

The pool is complete and it's wonderful to back back in the swim of things. The raft has been removed from the garage and the swim barbells are in constant use.

Jerry Seinfelds parents would be proud.

Boca Vista almost the final phase

There's water in the pool - ice cold water as the pump and solar heater have not been activated. We are waiting for the final phase to be completed add all those nasty chemicals (wish it were a salt system) turn on the solar heater, let it warm up and jump in.

My excitement is uncontainable. Ron wants back in also but I'm not sure I want dog hair messing up my new pool liner.

We have been without the pool for far too long. I see a summer of swimming, pool lounging, cool drinks and good books.

Boca Vista Phase II

The pool finish is starting to emerge.

Pool Progress

The pool is starting to look like a pool once again. Still missing the main component -water. The workers will be back early this morning to do their magic. Soon, soon the work will be completed and water will fill the belly and then - swimming will begin.
