Family Reunion

I have come to the conclusion that there are no 'normal' families out there. Dysfunction is the norm and my family is right up there at the top or over the top. If it were a triathlon we would take first place. If a relay is involved we might possibly come in dragging and arguing bringing up the rear end or otherwise referred to as the horse's behind.

Family dysfunctions are rampant in my point of view. I see them everywhere like dead people. Each family has their own distinct style and mode of operation. Sometimes I get giddy just watching the interactions of other families and then I am reminded of my own family and my balloon not only burst it melts in the heat of the moment.

We are the Clampets gone to Washington riding a bike through the evening sky with an alien sitting in the basket. And if only my brother would junk that 100 year old rusted bike into the nearest recycling plant I would feel a whole lot better. He purchased a shiny sparkly brand new bike but he is saving that for when the old one falls apart. Funny how he can't see that the old one is holding together by just a few rusted spokes. Throw it away and the little dog too.

In the birth order scheme the oldest sibling is said to be a leader but then Castro was at one time a leader and that wasn't pretty. When you tell me to walk in a straight line I will immediately begin to walk in circles. You can make your wife and children jump and bow down but do not expect me to comply. You are not the boss of me even if you are the oldest.

Being the middle child the books say I have a few issues. I love my issues and they make me who I am. I believe that is why I connected with another middle child as we understand the family dynamics. Now we have started our very own dysfunctional family called moon unit one.

Sisters are special, especially younger ones. For whatever reason she follows the leader and cowers in his presence. That birth order thing gets to you every time. She tries to appease the the commander in chief and I just lurk in the shadows. It's much nicer in the shadows.

Then, we come to the baby in the family and that is 'more worser' than Pandora's Box. I will leave that mystery box firmly wrapped in open proof cellophane.

Sometimes I am surrounded by myst and mysteries. I have read the books, The Myst, and Eragon and many others that touched my soul. My soul is a tattered and fragile component of myself. The souls of my siblings is another matter.

We are who we are and that is a family no matter how dysfunctional, bizarre or off the navigational charts - we be. Perhaps this type of dysfunction is really normal and THAT is scary. Maybe all of those so called 'normal' families exist only in the minds of psychologist or writers. We are the dodo birds - one hopelessly behind the times - related to pigeons but larger than turkeys - an extinct bird on the island of Reunion.

Home Security

I wonder if yesterday's run in with home security salespeople burnt my brain? Lately I do forget things, get lost in my own neighborhood and put the milk in the cupboard instead of the fridge. My mind is like a sponge, a dried up sea sponge.
We are a little strange in the fact that we lock doors inside our home. Long story that contains too much dirty laundry - family dysfunctions. We lock the one bedroom in our home that we refer to as - the computer room. Yes, it has several computers. He who cannot be named is not allowed in that room and is not allowed to use our computers. Teenagers and computers a nasty viral combination. Moving on!
We have one key to this locked room. Also hubby has all his clothes in that rooms closet. I get the master closet. LOL. The plan is to lock the room when we are not at home and at night when we hit the wonderful memory foam mattress. The important part of that plan is to put the one and only key in its special hiding place. One that we can remember.
Bright and early this morning I went to retrieve the key from that special place. Nothing. I searched the bedroom, the car, under the bed, in my underwear drawer. No key.
I knew right then where I had left the one and only key to the room. Inside the room.
Hubby needed his clothes to go to work and make money so we can try to support ourselves and relatives. And I needed my Internet morning fix.
The room was like Fort Knocks. LOL. No one not even the security team was getting inside that room. The door was not budging. Hubby removed the door handle. Nothing. He brought out the ice pick, the hammer, the crowbar. Nothing.
I'm feeling tremendous guilt for my lack of brain cells. What possessed me to lock the one and only key inside the room?
Finally after lots of banging and cursing hubby opened the door. We no longer have a door knob or a functioning door. I see dollar signs. Hubby walks in points to the one and only key sitting quietly on my desk and says, "There's the key."
He walks away. I can't be expected to remember everything. Perhaps we can purchase one of those spare key rocks and place a second key in there for safe keeping. Then, I would have to remember where I placed the rock.

Madonna Divorce

I've just read about the devastating news - Madonna and Guy Richie opting out for a divorce. This is the second go-round about this tragedy. This dilemma doesn't touch me nor do I care about their status or soon to be non-status. I worry about higher prices, paying a mortgage and keeping my job. Surely blogging pays no bills but it is rewarding.
My distress over this soon to be non-functioning - dysfunctional family is the children. And what about little David the adopted child? He now gets to live in a splintered household. The dynamics of the relationship with only one child being Guy's kin - how and where are his priorities dispersed?
To me this is not shattering news of the day - month -year but just a trickle of stagnant water littering the landscape. So much attention will be directed to these 'celebs' and life will go on. The next 'celeb' news will soon overshadow this blockbuster.
Divorce is not always pretty and nice and it leaves broken bodies in its wake - usually the innocent children.
