Seeking 7 Moons

My imagination is tethered to a long loose leash. It runs wild and rampant against the forces of nature. It meanders places where normal aliens never travel. It reaches great heights and dips down into deep valleys and crevices. It writes love notes in puffs of white clouds and sings along with the wind. My imagination contains no boundaries or constraints and holds no strict rules or regulations.

Last night as I looked up at the milky white half moon my first thought was that it was a half eaten vanilla moon pie. I prefer the chocolate moon pies myself but to each his own.

I stand outside in the dark of the evening gazing with the intensity of a floor mat at the creamy moon resting high in the sky. The leash moved against the night breeze and gave me a little tug. I stared a little harder at the half circle in the sky surrounded by blinking stars or perhaps alien ships.

And there right before my eyes the creamy milk white half moon showed me his face. I saw his deep set eyes and the hint of a smile slip across his lips. The moon became alive with life and ignited my imagination into a wild fire burning furiously across the night sky.

The moon has a heart and a soul and most obviously a sense of humor. He looked like an animated metal moon one can buy and place upon the living room wall or the silly painted moon earrings I once purchased and so soon lost. Sometimes we see and feel what we need to see and feel. Imagination is a good thing.

The Bluest Eyes

If you surrender to the wind, you can ride it. ~Toni Morrison

Very similar to - 'You can't fight city hall.' Or make love not war. Or - when given lemons make lemonade. Recently I have gotten hooked on raspberry lemonade. Yummy!!! Place it in the margarita maker and let er rip, pour it in a fancy margarita glass and let the imagination roll. Many times I have difficulty keeping the imagination under wraps.

So I sit outside in the heat of the day, melting like a marshmallow over a campfire - and sip my luxury drink and let my mind slip away. Actually my mind slips with out the raspberry lemonade but with the raspberry lemonade it slips into a much more tropical locale. And I have the bluest eyes Ms. Morrison.

Not that having the bluest eyes gets you much out of life but they are my favorite color and so is the ocean. I can see the connection. Sometimes my synapse's don't come together. While sipping away at my raspberry lemonade which frequently causes brain freezes I pretend I'm sitting on a beautiful peaceful beach with the lovely blue water lapping at my feet - but then I remember the oil spill in the gulf and I feel the sadness wash over me.

Take away my raspberry lemonade and my imagination but please don't destroy the oceans, the lands and the animals.

We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust the sails. ~Author Unknown

Porch People

You know who they are, probably have seen a few and perhaps know one or two. They're not really busy bodies but people who enjoy the world as it passes them by. They wave and smile as you pass by on your way to somewhere or nowhere. They hold the appearance of a contented life with no troubles or worries. Funny thing is we all have troubles and worries. Life is difficult and wonderful.

I used to be a porch person when I lived in the country. I had my comfy wooden rocking chair: it now sits in my outdoor living area and it holds a pot of flowers. It's rotting away from the toil of time, weather and age. I painted it pink. I would sit and watch the grass grow. I was also a back porch person - a place to reflect, meditate and dream. I would watch the birds and the clouds drift by. I would dream of traveling to exotic places and experiencing wild crazy fun.

To be or not to be - a porch person - that is the question? It's not really a question but a state of mind. I don't see as many porch people in the burbs of Florida. It's either too hot or they have gone to the beach. In my area we have the - garage people, similar to porch people. They watch the world fly by from their garage. Whatever? If it makes you happy - go for it.

I don't have a front porch and the garage is not to pleasing to me so I have become a lanai person. I sit there in the morning as the sun creeps over the horizon sipping my coffee and imagine the possibilities. Life is good.

What reminds me of porch people is the huge front porch of Cracker Barrel overflowing with rocking chairs just begging you to sit a spell and watch the world in peace.

Things that make you think or not.

#Why are round pizzas put in a square box?

#Can you cry underwater?

#If you have cured ham, what disease did it have?

#If sandwich bread is square why is most luncheon meat round?

Back to thinking outside the box again. Perhaps this is why I prefer to think inside the box - I know my parameters. When I am inside the box I know where to go and my imagination can go beyond reasoning all while still inside the box.

Off for a week of fun...my box will be closed.
