The Rain will explain

The rain falls mainly on top of my head as I walk around the back yard in the dark of this rainy Monday morning. In my nightgown. I was surely not expecting this downpour - although we need it and so do my plants at school. I won't have to spend and hour watering them.

So, of all the mornings why won't the dogs get their business done ASAP. No - nope -nada!!!!! They do this to me to push me over the edge of the cliff that I cling to with both hands. Cliff climbing or hanging on to for my life is not one of my strong points. Neither is wandering around the backyard at 4 AM in my flimsy nightie waiting for the dogs to take a pee.

No need to take a morning dip in the pool because I am currently soaking-sopping wet. Have the dogs done their duty? No.......How many times will this take for just a little tinkle from them and then the big one? I am more concerned with the big one than the tinkles. Our schedule is off.

Monday morning begins with a bang or more precisely a damp and dreary atmosphere. Why is this morning rain such a mystery to me? Oh yeah hubby had the T.V. on basketball games all day - so no news. I'm needing a T.V. in the computer room.

Who Let The Dogs Out?

We had a superb dog walking plan or so I thought. We are responsible doggie owner/walkers and always pick up after our pup. Not like some that I will not mention but you know who you are. Even when you let him out at 3 AM I see.

We keep the big guy walking fast especially past those green-green lawns. There is one strange dude that stands on the sidewalk every evening when so many walk their dogs just waiting for someone to pee or do the two on his thick lush green carpet. We cross the street and stay away from his domain to be safe. He yelled at us once when the big guy dropped a bomb on the easement even though we picked it up.

So, we keep him on a tight leash so he doesn't get any ideas. When we get to the fourth corner of our neighborhood we ease up on the leash. The stop sign is his first favorite. Then the bench 20 feet away gets sprayed upon. The really, really good thing about the corner and the bench is there is this great big old county trash can. We have trained the big guy to drop his bombs in close proximity of the bench. There is nothing worse than carry a bag of smelly dog doo for a mile and a half.

He does his business by the bench and hubby (his job :)) picks up the remains and tosses them in the great big old county trash can. The one that sits on Regency Parkway right at the bus stop. Oh boy would I hate to wait for the bus there. Sometimes the trash is only emptied once a week.

For some unknown reason big boy is straying way too far from the bench to complete his business. Our options are to walk all the way back to the trash can or carry the mess all the way home. It seems like big boy has his own agenda and schedule and will not be swayed. If he keeps it up he will get no more walks.

Going Out The In

Parking lots are confusing places. They have these arrows painted on the pavement that are many times faded so you never know which way is up. You have the exit and Entrance signs plastered from here to there.

And why do I always get caught going out the in? The parking lot will be completely empty and I make a wrong turn down the In row and there she is - coming my way. Dirty looks, fingers in the air, horn a honking, gram ma's going in the in. And me the wrong doer is going out the in. I try to back up but some fool (so like me) is on my bumper.

Maybe I should just walk.

Doing the Circuit

Sometimes it feels like an insurmountable chore to walk the dog. He could do the 5k but I am only up to the 1k. He needs his exercise which is also his life. He likes to sniff every lamppost and blade of grass and snarl at pedestrians. His focus is off the board.

I understand that he needs more walking time and I need to work on my goal of 'get more exercise'. So I have made a compromise. I walk him on my bike. Actually it's more like a trot for him.

I am completing my goal and he is having his fun time. We've had a couple of mishaps on this new journey. A squirrel darts in front of us and off he goes with me in tow. It's difficult keeping the bike in an upright position when my leader is doing a 45 degree turn at top speed.

We've encountered a couple of unleashed pets on our journey. One little mongrel caused scrapes and cuts to my bod and the owner said nothing. That day I pedaled home bleeding profusely from the elbow and left a trail for CSI.

Bumps are somewhat of a distraction. One bump caused me to connect with a wooden fence. All in all it's been a very interesting activity. Ronster gets his freedom and I am getting my exercise and the environment is getting a little fertilizer. During the ride when he has to go - he lets her rip and little piles of doo line the street. I don't stop. My bad.
