Belgium Truffles

Sometimes I just need quiet time all by myself. Just sitting outside breathing in the slightly cool air and feeling good that my lungs are working is an awesome task. Letting the soft breeze blow my hair into my face and watching the palm fronds dance to the wind which is hard to see when your hair is plastered across your eyeballs. The silence is relaxing. Your brain switches over to nothingness - all the world problems and personal issues are someplace other than the 'here and now'.

Time to reflect or not. Absorbing the morning and all it has to offer including the tropical storm Nicole that may be a storm or not depending on her path. Worries are like raindrops splattered along the floor of the lanai. Soon the sun will suck them up into the clouds.

Time for more coffee with the decadent creamer hubby purchased last night. It feels like fall without the leaves changing and dropping and cluttering up the lawn. Palm trees don't drop their fronds when the weather turns cold. Soon the turtles will be heading to the bottom of the pond in a suspended state of inactivity.

Life is as good as it gets - well it could be better but I will accept this. The foot hurts less everyday and mobility is returning. I am enjoying this quiet time sitting outside and capturing the moment. Chocolate would be nice.

Happy Valentine's Day

My sweetie gave me my Valentine's gift this morning. It was a book, 'The School on Heart's Content Road', by Carolyn Chute one of my favorite authors. She has not written tons of books and the her first and most recent book took her 20 years each to write. I love her words, style and imagination.

So I get a book for the BIG day and I truly love books but where is the candy? I know I have told him in the past NO candy but that doesn't mean NO chocolate. Why don't guys get it? Women are from earth and guys are from the other side of reality.

So, to console myself I bought Dove chocolates. AAAHHHHHH. Milk chocolate - my favorite. I know I should be eating dark chocolate because dark chocolate makes us healthy - therefore it must have no calories.

Dove chocolate has cute and inspiring words of wit and wisdom on the inside wrapper. Mt first bit of charming inspiration said - 'Dance to the beat of life'. I love those words.

Dance to the beat of life.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

Flip Off

I am so depressed and saddened. I have just read that - flip-flops are bad for your health and body. Oh no, what shall I do? Listen to medical authority (?) or listen to my soul? I've known for eons that high heeled shoes were bad for you and I do agree with that scenario. But flip-flops. An icon of sun and sand. 80 % of my footwear wardrobe is comprised of flip-flops. I have donned flip-flops since childhood. Now - I find out I will have body deformities from these sole lovers. Wat is the world coming to?

Bottled water is bad for us along with too much caffeine, sugar, sugar substitutes and high energy drinks. Plastic bottles, plastic bags and soon Tupperware will cause cancer. I have to stay out of the sun stay away from camping trailers (mostly those used for Katrina victims) all cleaning chemicals are on the list right next to cell phones.

The good news of late is that CHOCOLATE is good for you - it just makes you fat. The flip-flop theory has me torn. How can anything so comfortable and sometimes reasonably priced and pretty kool looking be bad? Will flip-flops now come with a warning label? 'WARNING" these flip-flops may be hazardous to your health and foot well being.

There are some 'warnings' I just will not abide with. I shall start a new group -Save our flip-flops!!!

No Flowers For Me

Valentine's day has come and gone with no flowers or boxes of chocolates for me. And that is fine with me. Cut flowers are beautiful but only last a few days - it seems like such a waste. A potfull of flowers always seems like a better choice - they last forever. Unless of course you don't water them! And OH - those chocolates - had enough of them at work yesterday.

So my special Valentine made me a handmade card. LOVED IT. More memories there than Hallmark ever produced. On the front of the card were two beautiful doves. The text beneath the doves said -'My true love sent me Two turtle doves'. There was a big X throught he word dove? Inside the card was a picture of The Turtles album - 'It Ain't Me Babe.' And another photograph of a turtle. And a quote from William Shakespeare - "O, how I love thee! How I dote on thee! I felt special but a little confused. The cheap smuck!!!

Then he said, "You don't get it do you?"

I replied, "It's very nice."

Then he takes my hand and walks me over to the once empty turtle tank and I see two tiny babies basking under the heat lamp. Two very small yellow bellies. Now our turtle farm has grown to five. So much better than flowers or chocolates and they will most likely outlive both of us. As of now they are nameless but the mind is thinking about something love inspired. Maybe Romeo & Juliet?

The family these two babies will join (outside) in the spring. Big Al - a Red Eared Slider, Cooter - a Florida Cooter and Cracker a Cumberland Slider.
